even though the hybrid cars are gaining a bit of momentum, how much of our pollution comes from semi trucks running about the country? almost anything you buy has been on a semi at some point or another...how feasible is it to mayke a hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle that can pull 80K lbs or so?

aren't most locomotives also diesel powered?

i just started wondering about this while watching a huge puff of black smoke escape from a semi beside me earlier...

Most locomotives these days are hybrid diesel/electric and the newest ones pull in like 50mpg cruising. Long haul can't be feasibly converted from diesel anytime soon. Other engines requrie WAY to much upkeep. They'll be hybridized first.
