what's the point of this? why not just use system ram intead. a possible problem with using system ram is if there's sudden power loss. but since it's mostly to benefit laptop that's not a problem since laptops have batteries. also flash memory has limited read/writes so they'll not only add extra costs to hard drives but also be adding another factor (flash memory) which will cause the hard drive to die, on top of increased number of times the hard drive powers up
 
Newer flash (like my M-Sys SSDs) can be read infinitely and have up to 1-5 million writes per sector. It will be obsolete long before the flash wears out.
