Hybrid Hard Disk

I read in a magazine that the new ?Hybrid Hard Disks? (HHD) are supposed to really boost performance if you are using Vista. I have heard that they will make such a difference that everyone will want one right away after trying a comp with one in. I have also heard that because the start and stop so much that they will wear out right away. Has anyone heard anything about these things? Is it worth it to get one right away for Vista? I can?t seem to find where to buy these either (none on Newegg).

I don't think hybrid drives are on the market just yet, and anyway they're only compatible with Vista at this point. They're aimed at the notebook market, but who knows what could happen in the next few years?

Typically the old fashion design was to have a fast boot drive and a seperate drive for data so when you're running a program, and loading data such as MP3, word, excel, etc, it doesn't wait for each other.

Which is why people have a raptor (faster) for boot and a 320+ gb for data..

I believe these hybrid drives were suppose to be have 64-256mb flash and the rest are mechanical, up to 160gb...

But you might as well get a flash SSD such as this PQI or samsung one.. its full solid state, no mechanical motors and uses less power. Use this as a boot drive and get a mechanical as data..
