What is the highest video card I can use in Hybrid Crossfire X ?
MB is going to be GIGABYTE 890GPA-UD3H 890GX AM3
I am thinking I need to be stay in Ceader family which is Radeon HD 5450 or I heard I can use Radeon HD 5500 too
Can some body confirm which is true ?

No one knows. AMD hasn't bothered to post any info regarding crossfirex requirements and compatibility.

Ha I just posted another thread asking the same thing essentially. I've done everything stated in the manual (have the same mobo) and nothing. I'm assuming my 5770 supports it but maybe not.

Ah well that would make sense. Guess I'll wait until the 5770 gets in and do true X-fire. Thanks!

So far all I have seen is the 5450 being the only 5000 series card that works with the 4290 integraded 890GX 4290 chip in Hybrid CrossFireX mode. I am using the MSI 5450HD (512mb DDR3) card with my Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 2.0) motherboard.

Great!
Now with this setup will be this as fast a GTS 8800 640 (G90) ?
Or I am just hoping way too much ?

I have a funny situation in that one game (Starcraft2) will work but another game (Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena) will not launch, when crossfire is enabled.

Have you have any issues with hybrid crossfire and getting all games to work with it? When it works, is it limited to *only* the games listed in the profiles? I noticed there is a CAP profile for Starcraft 2, but no CAP profile for Dark Athena.

Typically, is crossfire an "all-or-nothing" functionality, where either all the games work or none, or should I expect that some games will work and not others, and it's just luck whether a CAP is provided?

Where can I get additional CAPs for games not specifically listed in the latest download?

I'v had a 790gx chipset with hd3300 crossfire working with hd3450/hd2400

also 890gx with hd4290 still crossfires with a hd2400 and hd3450.

But not with hd4350 or hd4550 in my recent tinkerings.

also 760g hd3200 intigrated refused to work with hd2400 but works with hd3450

the lack of crossfire x function on the 4350/4550 with the 4290 intigrated is a bummer.

and why the hd5400 is compatable is odd to me but even odder still as to why the hd2400 still crossfires with the hd4290... suggesting the 4290 is closer to the outdated design of hd2k series.. but then what kinda mutant hd4k chips are mucking up the hd4350/4550 or rather did they realy just sell us hd2k gpu stock renamed to hd4k to make it sound improved?

hybrid crossfire was claimed to be vista supported only it is possible to gain hybrid crossfire functionality in compatable models under windows xp using Catalyst 8.8
is the windows xp hybrid crossfire loop hole (Surround view) must be enabled in the bios.

in all reality hybrid crossfire was just done wrong it should have been more of a feature in net/note books
