Its amazing how high schoolers can put this together even though it was part kit car anyways. But still interesting. Anyone have info on the set up?

It's 50 miles per gallon (mpg), and it's powerd by soybean biodiesel fuel, not hybrid.

You can't just drill a hole in the ground and suck seemingly virtually unlimited supply of soybeans...

no thanks. 50mph is pretty slow.

If that was the case it wouldn't be 0-60 in 4 seconds, either...

You can grow soybeans....you can't grow oil.

The engine sounds really weird though...

Sources of biodiesel are quite plentiful, so yeah, they are virtually unlimited. Unless you were being sarcastic, then whatever ;)

Also, as I read it, it just sounds like they put together a diesel car. It is great that they are getting that automotive experience, but a diesel can get 50mpg easily and they don't require modification to run on ester (100% biodiesel).

Yep. I think gas is going to kick its @ss in terms of cost.

Mad props to these guys though. The project may have helped to get them out of the ghetto.

If only more people realized that harvesting the sun's energy through biomass was better than harnessing it directly (solar panels). :(

"We made this work," says Hauger. "We're not geniuses. So why aren't they doing it?"

Kosi thinks he knows why. The answer, he says, is the big oil companies.

Perhaps, but the car was dubbed the "Hybrid Attack" so no one said it was a hybrid.

Winnar!

Not really. The bigger issue is America not wanting diesels.

I always wonder how well these biofuels will pan out IF the environmentalists are right. Cause if the global warming doom and gloom predictions are right, the midwest ain't gonna be growing much corn or beans in 50 years
