HX620W PSU - ~$102 YMMV

Could it be I finally found a deal in the compusa going out of business clearance items?

Power Supplies are now 40% off.

Corsair HX620W is now 169.99 - 68 = $101.99 - no rebate.

the best I found on Froogle was ~120.

It is currently ($149.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate) @ the Egg.

These are great PSU's. One of SilentPC's recommended. Great, reliable power @ whisper quiet levels. AND the cables are long enough for bottom mounting cases.

I have the 520, which is nearly identical to this. It's pretty much anything you could want in a power supply. Modular, quiet, stable, powerful. The price is less than what I paid for my 520 after rebate. I might goto compusa after work to see if they have any left.

I'm running a Q6600@3.4GHz, HD3870, 2x500GB HDDs, optical, etc. on a HX520W and it doesn't even get that warm (or loud) under load. Fantastic series of power supplies.

I just got back from CUSA and snagged one of these as well as a bunch of random stuff, I got a Zalman VF900 for 20 bucks, a 700 for 18ish, a Zalman 7000 with lga775 bracket for 25ish. They also had some decent deals on motherboards. I was actually surprised at how much stock they still had. The minute stuff drops to 50 percent off im gonna go back.

Hey can anyone tell me the type of packaging that is standard on this product? That is, does it come with a special seal or shrink wrap? The one I found at the CompUSA that I went to only had a piece of scotch tape on it and the box was beat up as hell. I figured it might have been a return...and this is where the fun begins.

I didn't care that the box was beat up beyond belief, I just wanted to know everything was inside. So, I go and ask an employee if I could open it (seeing as there was no special seal anyway) to inspect the product. The person absolutely refuses to let me open a box that has no seal on it (if you don't count a piece of scotch tape as a seal. I don't). I explain to him that if everything was in there I would buy it but the person continues to fight me on it as if that person were afraid they'd get fired. So I proceed to go to the manager and explain I just want to count the number of cables in there and if it were complete I would purchase it on the spot. He refuses in a very rude a-hole manner. Our conversation goes something like this:

Me: This box looks like it might be a return, can you open it and let me inspect the contents?
Manager: No.
Me: Are all sales are final even if I buy the product and find out it's missing something.
Manager: No returns even if you're missing a cable.
Me: So why not let me just open it to inspect it so I don't get effed over
Manager: I don't want to break the seal [the scotch tape, remember?]
Me: So I if I buy it and there's a brick inside, I can't get my money back.
Manager: Nope, all sales are final. [wow, what a prick]
Me: You wouldn't issue a return if it were a brick!?

Then the dude finally cracks open the scotch tape seal.

Manager: Nope, no brick here.

So, while the thing is open, I'm pulling out the cables to freaking count them.

Manager: HEY! Don't go pulling stuff out now.

I shove everything back in close it and left without buying it. It's not hard to see why CompUSA is going out of business. It's not an isolated incident either as there was another manager there on a different occasion who was just as much of an a-hole. I get treated better at BestBuy's and I'm a "devil" customer.

Sorry for the rant guys. So, the question is, does it come with a seal or shrink wrap? I'm still wondering about whether to buy it or not. Also, I wonder if another increase in the discount will be coming up.

Got one to replace the 350W PSU in my new Dell Inspiron Q6600 desktop, in preparation for my MSI 8800GT video card which is arriving next week. Thanks for the heads up!

When they had the out of business sale here, last year in bellevue They had tables with open box items. I would check back and see if that psu is there and marked down even more now. The prices here dropped every few weeks or so until the store closed for good.

Thanks for the tip on the VX450 and VX550. I just got the VX450 for $59.99 shipped after GCO, and $49.99 after mail-in rebate.

I stopped by my compusa for the first time since they announced the closings. They had a lot of power supplies left but they were only 30% off. The HX620W retail price was $179.99 instead of $169.99 so it was not a good deal for me. I will keep an eye out for further price drops. All of the good stuff like hard drives and video cards were only 20% off high retail prices.

My HX620W also says $179.99 on the sticker. But it rang up $101.99. With tax, came to $108.11 out the door. I think it's a good deal.

I wasted a couple hours going to the Cherry Hill, NJ store today.

No hot deals there.

Plenty of sheeple thinking they were getting hot deals though.
