HVR-1800 BSOD's in XP Pro

I've tried to scan both digital and analog in WinTV 6 and the BeyondTV trial with the same result. The scanning process starts but then crashes at about 5-8% into the scan. Help please.

uninstall driver, remove board, reinstall board, reinstall driver.

aye did that. no change. could there be a bios setting or something im missing? mobo is an MSI K8NGM2-FID (AMI bios ver 350) with 2GB of GSkill Ram. I have a peripheral codec pack installed. Could that or the onboard video be causing the crashes?

why would the onboard video interfere with a tuner? Is it the Phillips Hybrid tuner chip?
