I had my unit replaced over a year ago, but kept the same electronic thermostat that i bought from Home Depot 8 yrs ago.

With the old unit, the heat/ac would stop when the target temp is reached, but the fan kept on blowing for an additional minute or so. I guess this is to blow out the last of the heat/ac that's in the system to maximize efficiency.

with this new unit, the fan stops immediately when the target temp is reached. No changes have been made on the electronic thermostat.

How do i change it so that the fan blows a minute after the target temp is reached?

What kind of heat?
With gas, the burner should shut off when the target temp is reached, but the fan runs for a bit longer. Since you're asking this in the summer, I suspect it's a heat pump, in which case I'm not sure, though I would expect the fan to run for a bit after the compressor shuts down.

not heat pump.

gas heat, electric a/c.

yes, since it's in the summer, i'm talking about the a/c. but i also assume it does the same thing for the heat.

how how do i get the fan to blow an additional minute w/o the a/c on?
