So what've been peoples' experiences with RAM from eWiz?

DOA issues?

Passes memtest x86 burn in with rated timing & speed & voltage no problem?

Did you get the exact part model / manufacturer described for sale, no
substitutions or differences in spec. / model?

New, original packaging or sticks that look like they've been
pulled from service / returned / repackaged?

No lifetime warranty / RMA problems if you ever had to RMA directly to
SuperTalent a year or more down the road?

Since a previous poster added a summary with various different sticks
being sold, I thought I'd add this in; I bought some of these for 4x2GB
paired dual channel 8GB for my upcoming PC; I hope they work.

They're a few bucks cheaper than the Fry's $79/2GB PC-4200/533MHz Patriot sticks
anyway, and ewiz is shipping free.

BTW: Thanks, great price!

It shouldn't be a huge problem for performance for most things to use slower RAM
versus faster RAM these days. That's the kind of potential problem that's often helped
out by having more / better cache in the CPU, more memory on the graphics board,
using dual channel RAM setup (two matching paired RAM sticks in the right slots on
a compatible dual channel motherboard), and a better motherboard chipset / BIOS
that can optimize the memory performance for a given frequency / timing setup.

Generally the timing numbers get higher the faster the RAM MHz is anyway, so
that makes the overall performance distinction even less in those cases
e.g. 533 MHz at CL4 vs 667 MHz at CL5 or whatever.

Me? I'm more interested in having MORE RAM versus faster RAM so
I just got 4 and 8GB of DDR2-533/DDR2-667 memory.

If my applications really needed only 2GB memory but had to run fast, I'd
have probably got some PC-6400/800 MHz 2x1GB kit memory since I only
would need a little.

For general purpose use, I'd get what's cheap and maybe a few notches slower than
the very best, but is still from a high quality / reliability manufacturer.

Here are a couple of articles that touch (sometimes a bit indirectly, but perhaps
still useful to generalize) on the performance impacts of RAM with
different MHz speeds and timings that may be enlightening:

I just ordered my 3rd set of the 667. First one was a few months back at $120 (thought that was a great deal), next set about a month ago for $80 (thought that was an amazing deal) and now at $59 (getting a bit ridiculous deal). So far all the sticks have run great at rated speed. Havent had a chance to try an overclock because it isnt really neccessary in the machines I have them in.

I bought the 2GB 667mhz version 3 months ago. Is it wise to get the 2GB 800mhz version and mix-match them together? Or should I just get the same 667mhz version?

just got some of the ddr2-800 kits- thats the best price ever for 2gb DDR2-800 with heatsinks, lifetime warranty (with SuperTalent), and without rebate hassles, and if you live where theres no tax and the ground ship is free like it is right now.
otherwise PQI no heatsink kits were $64.99shipped plus a $15 rebate at frys.com a couple days ago, but I have to pay tax in GA to frys and I really dont care for non-heatsink RAM. I probably shoulda gotten one pair of those, but I haven't been impressed by PQI quality- or lack of quality I should say, over many sticks I have bought from them over the years.

I went to get the 800 kit and the deal was dead again. I saw it at noon and went to lunch with my wife, cam back and it had gone up again. Too slow, but maybe it will come back.

i don't know about any other store, but newegg's software seems to track item popularity vs. item stock and adjust prices accordingly.

I just received my ram and it was packaged very well. So far so good. 4 GB vs 2 GB of ram makes a huge difference!

vista? xp64?

when do you notice the advantages of 4gb over 2?
