Hurricanes - everybody wins

My coworkers and I were discussing at the naming scheme of hurricanes and we came up with a great idea:

SELL THE NAME OF HURRICANES TO ADVERTISING COMPANIES!

Think about it, you can't buy better advertising for your money. Imagine if hurricane Katrina was really hurricane "Coca Cola". They would go down in history and nobody would ever forget their name.

Now some will say that companies don't want their products associated with the damage and pain that hurricanes cause...well that's not true. As they say, any publicity is good publicity. Besides if Katrina was known as Hurricane "Ford F350 Super Duty" It would be known for being tough, badass, and destroying everything in its path, which is something I sure want to buy if I'm in the market for a truck.

The best part is that the majority (or all, whatever) of the cash the company used to name the Hurricane after themselves can be put directly towards the clean up. This way, hurricane Coca Cola won't be known for it's destruction, but more known for its direct influence in sponsoring the cleanup effort.

This idea has been copyrighted, and if it ever moves into motion I want 5% royalties on all hurricanes purchased.

Sure, Coca Cola would be associated with totally destroying New Orleans. That would be good for publicity .

Oh come on, you wouldn't want a hurricane named after you? If I had the same cash flow as Bill Gates, i'd be all over getting my own hurricane.

It's a huge honor to have a comet named after yourself, which has the capability to destroy the entire world, and yet a hurricane is a no no?
