10-29 Strange season almost over - Busy season south of Islands keeps big storms away from U.S.

Must be that Global Cooling

10-28-2007 Hurricane season above normal, meteorologists say

African dust, a pressure barrier along the Southeast and low sheer in the atmosphere are some of the reasons why Florida and the rest of the United States have been mostly safe from hurricane disaster this year.
But the hurricane season itself has actually been more active than normal, according to meteorologists.

?The numbers have actually been there with the averages,? said AccuWeather.com senior meteorologist Bob Smerbeck. ?Actually, they?ve even been a little above average.?

While there have been no history-making storms ravaging Florida, the Gulf Coast or Mid-Atlantic this year, there has been plenty of cyclone activity along the Yucatan Peninsula, as well as other portions of Central America and the Caribbean.

For the most part, hurricanes need three vital ingredients ? a flare-up of thunderstorms in the Atlantic, a low wind shear in the upper atmosphere and a warm ocean.

The ocean is always warm during the summer, but the other two are not as reliable

Summer 2007 Flood

===================================================
8-25-2007

Remnant of Dean streaks east makes bend at Oklahoma and thens floods midwest.

AT climatologists dismiss this tropical moisture and claim the rains cae from Iowa corn fields.

8-26-2007 Hundreds of thousands of people were without power after their homes were battered by fierce winds and flooding rainstorms that slammed the rain-soaked Midwest.

Flooding this week spread across an 80-mile swath through the northwest and north central parts of the state. Gov. Ted Strickland toured some of the damaged areas Saturday.

Rain had mostly stopped falling Saturday in northern Illinois as a line of storms moved eastward and southward, and the flood waters that had risen steadily slowed to a creep or began to drop in some areas. Flood warnings remained in effect in 14 counties.

"There's so much flooding continuing from the rain and runoff from two days ago," said Mark Ratzer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "That's going to take a while to recede."

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator R. David Paulison surveyed damage Friday in Rushford, Minn., which was especially hard hit by this week's flooding. Mayor Les Ladewig said about half of Rushford's 760 homes were damaged, including 248 that were destroyed and 91 with serious damage.

About 1,500 homes were damaged around Minnesota. Paulison said FEMA recovery centers should be running early next week in the three counties where President Bush declared disasters Thursday.

Paulison also visited Wisconsin, where flooding destroyed 44 homes and damaged more than 1,400, most of them in the southwestern part of the state.

8-22-2007 Remnants of Erin kills 22 from Oklahoma to Ohio

AT OTers say it was nothing

=======================================
8-15-07 11:30 pm CST Low forming very close behind Dean.

Looks like something for the east coast.

=================================
8-15-07 11 am EST Erin finally named

Heading towards Texas.

Will it make Cat 1 before landfall is the only question now.

Was called here first.

Of course most ATers deny it.

Edit: Looks like will be 20mph short but pretty close.
====================================
11PM Tropical Storm watch issued for Texas for what could be named Erin by tomorrow,

=====================================
8-14-07

Dean strengthening heading towards island at good clip.

Upper level low has spun down in Gulf to become tropical, no confirmation from NHC at 10:30 am CST time however.

======================================
Looks like first big Atlantic storm of the season.

Winds are keeping everything about mid gulf line down so beeline for south Florida.

METEOSAT-8 8-13-07

Edit: 11 am EST NHC issues 1st report on this

Back on topic.

I was spot on and way before the NHC by nearly 2 hrs.

I know it just kills so many poeple in here. :laugh:

8-13-2007 Atlantic depression forms, another eyed in Gulf: NHC

In about four days, the NHC said Tropical Depression 4 could strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 74-95 mph and a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 96-110 mph in about five days.

The NHC expects to issue another advisory at 5 p.m.

All of the weather models show Tropical Depression 4 will likely cross the Leeward Islands over the next several days and enter the Caribbean Sea.

Also, it's not even a depression yet, although it could be later today according to NHS.

Don't you have anything better to do?

What the hell is your problem?

It's interesting.

I don't have a problem. I'm just genuinely curious as to how he finds the time to monitor and predict every form of natural disaster on the planet. It seems like a pretty daunting task.

Is there any amount of begging, pleading, hell even bribery that will convince you to take yourself back over to P&N with your Matt Drudge Jr headline postings?

Dave McOwnened. Dave knows everything, he even knows that he knows everything and he knows that you need to know that he knows everything, so be awe-inspired by his knowing that you know that he wants you to know that he knows everything. Additionally, Dave specializes in making knowledge (notice, he does not make predictions, because everything he says always comes true). Proof of this is that Dave will know that rain will fall in America today, thus he is right. Dave also knows that the stock market will fall, thus he is always right since it can't never fall. Dave knows everything, but he doesn't know why. anything happens.

Mr McOwened is Certfied in the following fields:

Geology: Dave knows rocks, because his head is made of them.

Siesmology: Dave knows fault lines and knows when major earthquakes will strike.

Finance Dave knows that every company that is shorted in the stock market will go out of business. Which means that every company will go out of business.

Business: Dave knows that companies who cannot compete in their industry due to strong competitive forces are not just leaving the field because it's unfprofitable, but also because the economy sucks, all fo the time.

International Business: Dave knows that outsourcing is the root of all evils and even if a guy loses his job as a welder in Texas, it's because there's an indian welding the same thing in Bombay.

Meteorology: Including extensive knowledge of the E-Fuchida scale, which measures tornado scale through damage estimates. Mr. McOwned knows the damage $$$ figure even before the Tornado touches ground or it goes away. He doesn't just know the E-Fuchida scale, he *IS* the scale.

Additionally, Mr. McOwened knows how strong hurricanes are (Katrina was a Cat5, he knows it because he is also a structural engineer) and where they will hit even before they are 500mi off of the African coastline. He will be able to know the size of the hurricane before it lands, because not only does he know everything about hurricanes, but his vast brain power sends probes into the hurricane to measure temp, pressure, and wind force. He doesn't need the Air Force, NOAA, or Nasa, they are pathetic compared to the power of the McOwened force.

Everything: Dave knows everything. Don't even try to refute him with facts, because he knows those facts even if he doesn't. They are all crap in the face of his almighty power. Do not forget that if you present him with a fact that he knows he doesn't know (which is impossible, since he knows everything) then you are a paid member of the opposite position of his knowledge. Therefore, you are nothing but a paid "shill" for George W. Bush and your party his that party. Don't even try to argue that point, because Dave is also the master arbiter of your political affiliation, because he just knows psychology too.

😎 then Ben Stein has nothing on me 😀

Hey, nice writing, I need a writer for my Biography :thumbsup:

We need the rain badly in NC. Hopefully it's just a tropical storm/depression if it hits us. I love those things.

Sorry, they are not news yet.

Just opinion/predictions.

They get posted once they do in fact happen. 😀

😎 If it does make it across you guys should be on the wettest side :thumbsup:

Not really if you read his summary it is quite a compliment. He obviously reads
D McOwen threads extensively and has hit the nail on the head (He doesn't need the Air Force, NOAA, or Nasa, they are pathetic compared to the power of the McOwened force.)
you should try living with him...it is unnerving how often he is right, he may miss occasionally on details but the over all is always on target.
As for the drive for $5 wait for it, its coming...😀
Oh and I do wish you would spell the name correctly it is D McOwen since it's my name too...if you are going to write his biography "Legendkicker" it would be good to know how to spell it :roll:
