Hurricane Rita!

So...don't they go by name alphabetically? How did we get from K (Katrina) to R (Rita) so quickly? Seems odd.

Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, and Philippe all preceeded Rita.
2005 Hurricane season

Hmm...I guess living so far from hurricanes I didn't realize there were quite so many per year. Kinda nice where I live...there are like no natural disasters at all. I know...people will say OMG CA! EARTHQUAKES but there really is nothing here where I am at.

FEMA: Let's evacuate the shelters!
Governor: Nat'l Guard?
Mayor: Everyone must leave!

<4 days pass>

Mayor: Everyone can stay!
Mayor: People can come back now!
Mayor: Let's start rebuilding!

Visalia? Nope, nothing to speak of. Never felt any of the little earthquakes that people say they've felt in Fresno when, say, Parkfield had a set of tremors. Of course, you could argue for tule fog and air pollution as other slightly significant annoyances around here.

That would be awful if NO had to suffer that, again.

actually, there would be less damage and fewer deaths/injuries if it did hit NO then any other city since it is already so destroyed.

I think they only do a certain number of names per year (around 20) so not every letter in the alphabet is represented.
21 names, where Q, U, X, Y, and Z are not used(you try coming up with some reasonable names with those letters!). Once we exhaust the 21 name list for this season(and it looks highly likely we will, there are only 4 names left, and it looks likely another TS will spawn within 3 days), we'll start using the Greek alphabet for the first time in history.

Actually, it would be better if it went there because not many people are in that area right now and it could be easily evacuated. Plus, it would just be going through an area that is already torn up. N.O. FTW

**EDIT**
Emotionally, it would be terrible, but pratically, probably a lot better than hitting Houston or Miami.

But it would be huge let down and bring moral down.
