Hurricane Frances giving us fits is South Florida

The best part about this hurricane so far is that I can play video games all day, and get paid for it! I haven't worked since Wednesday, and with the holiday on Monday, that makes for a 5 day weekend! I might actually finish Doom 3 this weekend, provided the power stays on.

Looking pretty bad, better than it was, but still dangerous hurricane is sitting out just offshore. Moving very slowly in our general direction. And as I write that a nice 25-30MPH gust just kicked up reminding me that we're probably in for a good 2 days of this type weather. Nice day today, one significant rain band came off the shore through the southern tip of fla, wiped out power for about 40000 people.

Landfall is expected about 100 miles north of where I live, with the cane passing around 80 miles from me at its closest approach. Forecast to drop nearly 20-30 INCHES of rain (thats over 2 FEET) in the next day or two.

My parents live in Coral Springs, and im over on the west coast in Sarasota.
 
Yea it's a hoax! I was expecting this thing on Friday Night/Saturday Morning and now they say sunday morning. I'm getting antsy being stuck inside all day.
 
I'm here in Central Florida (Orlando) just chilling with my roomates.

Today, I got up around 12, we went to the store to get some barbeque stuff. Came back here, grilled, sat outside and drank beer and then watched two movies.

Ahhh.....what a day. 😀
 
Did anyone notice hot freaking HOT it was today? Beautiful sunny weather, but the sun was burning my skin after being outside for only a few minutes today....

SH!T YEAH IT WAS! We were in the shade so it wasn't that bad, but man when I was in the direct sun it felt like it was over a 100 degrees...

I wonder if its somehow related to the storm... Im outside quite alot on clear & sunny days, but my lord... That sun HURT like hell today.....
 
UNBELIEVABLY HOT today. I know its south florida and I've been here for 7 years, so I'm used to it, but man it really was hot.

I live in Tamarac, (roughly coral springs drive and half a mile south of atlantic), so I'm pretty far west. Looking forward to the massive rains to be expected.

Anyone else remember the rain from the system that turned into TS Leslie? I had to drive home from an emergency room visit for my GF (female trouble, I didn't ask, still don't know, the wench is gone) through that, 3 times driving down commercial from US1 -> andrews the hood of my car had a wave wash over it. LUCKY I made it at all.

How about the CAT1 storm that snuck up on us in 1999, Irene. I hitched a ride across the parking lot where I worked at the time on the side of this guys monster truck-like pickup conversion. He ferried people across all day 🙂
 
this storm is pissing me off.. the whole city is fvcking closed. and its taking so long.. everyone is bored to death. everyones all preparing and its getting weaker and slower. blah.
 
Here is my amateur Tampa video. There is no sound and its rather poor quality but you get to see some wind action and some downed tree limbs. I'm super bored waiting this thing out, thank god for electricity.

heh, i haven't seen sun here in orlando since fri afternoon - been getting some overcast and nice rain bands since fri evening.
wish this thing would do something though, kinda annoying just being some rain and bad wind occassionally - either do something or leave!
