i have nothing against crucial. i use it for all my economical builds, its quality stuff. this is for my personal rig, so i want the best ram possible, which is why i got mushkin. you guys need to do a little more RAM research before you start laughing at me i think

Even less than I originally thought.

Your preference for Mushkin is just your preference. Nobody could honestly compare Corsair to Mushkin and say that one is overall better than the other at the same speeds and latencies. More people swear by Corsair than Mushkin these days it seems.
Perhaps your post was meant to simply be a self-congratulations that you're getting more very good memory; ended up being interpreted as a gloat over how little you thought you'd paid for it.
By the way, you are running that memory at PC2100 speeds, aren't you? Or overclocking your frontside bus to 166MHz? If not, you're reducing your performance (no need for extra memory bandwidth even with single-channel, but cycle delays from an asynchronous bus are incurred).

Honestly, if you wanted "headroom" you should have bought PC3200 instead.

i'd take 512mb pc2700 of crucial over 256mb pc2700 mushkin for that price. i'd definately see a bigger difference in my everyday tasks with a 512mb upgrade over the 256 of faster stuff

No, a "high rollah" would be one who buys that pc3700+ (whatever max speed they're at). You're just a high-spendah.![]()
