Almost a complete computer. Looking for recommendations on motherboard/CPU to pair with this almost computer.

Following items I own
Case - Cooler master case (not sure of model it's silver and older but works)
PSU - ABS Tagan 700watt
Memory - 4gb DDR3 1333
GPU - a 550ti or a 7770 depending on what performs better.
Hard drive - a corsair 120gb ssd + 320gb sata

I've got a maximum budget of 145.00 and will be buying for amazon because its gift card money/

Is your workload primarily single-threaded? Multi-threaded? What are your needs for the mobo? USB3? Front USB3? SATA6G? RAID? Intel SRT?

I don't have a workload designated mostly have Christmas money I want to do something fun with. I may hook it to the TV do some mild gaming/htpc/streaming stuff, It won't be pushed hard. I'd like the board to have modern component like usb 3 and sata 6, but I don't need crossfire or sli support, or any board that's primarily designed for gaming.

Hmm, most of the configs that come out to $145 final would require a sub-$100 CPU.

If you feel fine going without an IGP, you can pick up either an Athlon X4 750K or Athlon II X4 760K for the FM2/FM2+ platform AMD has. Otherwise, you can select between an A6 or lower APU on the AMD side or an Intel Pentium or Celeron on the Intel side and pair them up with the appropriately priced motherboard of your choice.

I have a gpu a 7770 or 550ti so an IGP isn't needed. Not too familiar with the 750k but if it's got decent performance it may be a go.

Hows this?

Not opposed to the option but it does bust my budget by 10 bucks. If I can find a cheaper board it'll go on the list. My goal is to have a balance with the HD7770 or geforce 550ti.

this would be a good balance for them.

You can't spare 10 more dollars?

I'm sure there is going to be a sale or something that'll lower the price.

750K gives the better multithreaded performance, but is a bit slower in "single-threaded" tasks. Basically, some programs take advantage of more cores while others do not. But since Windows has a bunch of processes running at the same time, the single threaded performance not too slow in its own right, you should find it perfectly adequate for your purposes.
Choosing the 750K would leave you with $65 for a motherboard.

If you want SATA 6.0 Gbps, an FM2 or FM2+ board with an A75 chipset are sometimes available for under $65.

hmm..I can offer a 960T that unlocks to 6 cores and a m4a78t-E for..your price..if your price is $140.
You have to wait though, until i test the other Thuban. :whiste:
That will be around Tuesday to Thursday. :ninja:

So I got a free motherboard a gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2p. It needed a retention bracket but I had a spare so I ordered a fx-6300. So I've got 30 bucks and I'm going to see if I can find a different case. The cable management on the one I'm using is horrible as are the tool less drive bays.

So if you've got a 30.00 case suggestion I'm all ears.
