Maybe it was originally called Hungry Jacks, but bringing that name here will be too confusing with Jack in the Box. Of course I made that up...

i suspect the name 'burger king' was probably already in use here...that or they just wanted to look different from Burger king...
 
There's a reason why McDonalds has 4x the income of Burger King, with only 2x the stores. I haven't eaten at a Burger King in years, and I plan on keeping it that way till the day I die.
