Over 600 dogs have died and over 3000 dogs injured from eating tainted jerky treats. There is no mystery ... the treats came from China and they have substandard oversight. With the FDA allowing Chinese processors to process chicken nuggets, in my opinion, it's only a matter of time until we see more of this in people here in the US getting sick and dying.

How unusual. Chinese products killing organisms. I'm sure it's just a one-off, and isn't a reflection on their manufacturing processes or business ethics.

You mean the country that was shipping candies laced with lead to the US? The same country that was shipping "vitamins" to Korea that had traces of human remains in them?

I can't wait till the "Chicken" nuggets start to arrive.

shock/awe

It's a pretty safe bet that all living things should avoid eating anything from China.

When we get our dog it won't be eating anything from China..

Good luck, it's a constant battle for us. You would be shocked how hard it is to find products not from China for dogs. We end up ordering a lot of toys online and luckily there are a few bougie pet stores around here that stock American made products.

Anything the dog can rip apart and swallow pieces of, should certainly not be from China.

This has been a known thing, at least in my area, for quite a while. The stores still sell Chinese treats/food, but our dog only eats American made stuff. Costco has American made rawhide bones, jerky treats, food, etc.

I assume some of my food is made in China, the place is a cesspool when it comes to toxicity. And some complete idiots in America want to do away with the EPA :)

I complain about real dog bones - fresh femur pieces from a cow - at the grocery store are $1.99 per pound. Those dog treats are more expensive on a per pound basis - I'd have to be an idiot to spend more on inferior quality treats for my dogs.

The only way to avoid food from china is to go to a "Chinese restaurant" since everything there is 100% American.

I used to know a dude that made his own dog biscuits; it's basically like baking bread, except the material is much more dense. I actually tried a few myself and they were fairly tasty, even to a human.

gee, another poisonous product from china, the country that makes soy sauce out of human hair, cooking oil out of cancerous 'recycled' sewage, building pillars out of garbage and hi-speed rail foundations out of newspapers. Color me surprised.

yeah, but you have giant monster dogs. I don't think the average Yorkshire owner is giving their little mongrel some cow femurs to chew on.

Another thing I hear for dog treats is where the ingredients are sourced from. So it could be made in USA but sourced from China. I have been making my own treats, save some money and avoid any issues with other doggie treats out there..

2c whole wheat flour.
1c oatmeal.
1/3-2/3c peanut butter. I just vary mine
1.25c water.

Mix all together, then I use a 2tsp disher for portions, put them on a cookie sheet and squish into a flat disc. 350F @ 20m.

my dad used to make whole grain dog treats back when he was more into baking. real simple to do. i bet you could mix in some unflavored protein powder and some flax seeds to improve the nutrition ratio of the recipe above.

They slice them up into pieces - you can get bones that are 8" long, or bones that are only 3/4" tall. The small ones are perfect for little dogs - and like I said, though I complain about the price of "garbage" being $1.99 per pound, they're still cheaper on a per pound basis than pretty much any dog treats.

 We used to buy those for our dog. She loved them and would spend hours cleaning those bones of the marrow.

You can make them out of the spent grain after brewing beer as well.
