Well now that I've seen it, I'd say the flying monkeys ad exhibits a very small trace of imagination as compared to the usual attack ad but I see no humor in it at all. Comedy to a large extent is based on the unexpected twist, that ad was totally predictable from beginning to end.
It was substantially more refreshing than the usual smear ad, though.
I thought it was unique. And it got a huge number of views before it was taken down due to a complaint by EMI that it violated their "Wizard of Oz" copyrights.
The re-working of the Christine O'Donnell ad is likely to come close to beating it for number of views. It is perfect for MTV -
