About a month ago I was installing a FOP38 (Not FOP38-1) and if you don't know they changed to the 38-1 because it was easy to get the lip on the FOP38 stuck on the socket edge and not notice it and toast a CPU... I did just that. Well I had a 800Mhz T-Bird and I tossed the FOP38 on and I guess it got caught on the edge of the socket and didn't make good contact with CPU, so after about 15 seconds my PC locked up and I smelt a slight burnt smell.... it was my CPU, the warranty sticker on back had turned brown even. Tried turning it off and putting the HS back on... no go so I figured I fried it, which most people would assume after toasting it like that.

Anyways I ordered a 900Mhz T-Bird and that worked fine up to about 1007 and I've been running it for about a month. So today I decided what the hell lets see if that fried CPU won't work underclocked to 500 or 600... I toss it in set it as 500Mhz, and Ill be damned it booted. So I decide lets jump straight to 800.... I was shocked it booted and ran Prime95 to test stability. So I decide let's try 1050 and if it works Im gonna hit myself hehe.... It boots! And it was stable... anyways the highest I tested was 1080 and it was slightly unstable so right now Im running it at 1060.... not bad I would say...

So basically now my 900 is sitting in a drawer because my burnt up 800Mhz beats my 900 by a good 50Mhz... not bad so I think I'll stick with the 800@1060..... So when AMD says the CPU can take 90C... its true LOL this cpu must have hit 120C to beable to scorch the paper on the back so much.

Not to mention that when the FOP38 got caught it chipped the core too! Luckily the FOP38-1 fixed this problem so this doesn't happen. So now when are thoose SMP boards due? hehe I want one now that I got 2 CPUs.

Would mine? No... but keep in mind I used a HS that wasnt supposed to be used... thats why the made the FOP38-1.
