Been living up here a little over a year now, and the static electricity and my dry skin is starting to drive me crazy. Everytime I touch my computer, even after just spinning in my chair, will cause a discharge. Then to add to that, the dryness of my skin is driving me insane with the itching, even after i use lotion.

So...a friend of mine suggested getting a Humidifier. I found one for around 50 dollars, but I'm having problems spending that much money for something that may not work. Does anyone have any experience with these things?

Thanks...

Let's see - the static and dry skin is caused by the dry air.

Solution = humidify the air.

I did do a little research...

They have 3 types of humidifiers...

1. Evaporative

2. Warm mist

3. Ultrasonic

Evaporative being the cheapest but then there are maintenance costs associated like changing wicks, filters etc. Now is it worth the hassle. I've never needed one before and just the idea seems kind of well a waste...but i've never worried about it before. Just wanting some input from the ATOT community before i run out to the store and buy it. Now with computer hardware...

get the ones that you can see the warm mist, I have found those to work decently. Although, the ones Ive used costed only 25$. You do have to clean them out since they start to mold/mildew.

Otherwise, if you do not pay for hot water, just run your shower and leave the bathroom door open if your place is small.

The review I saw for a warm mister complained about it sounding like a gurgling coffee maker, so I'm hesitant to try it since this will be going in my room. The shower is a couple doors down so that's not going to work. This is the unit I'm planning to get.
