I use the one thats made by Walgreen's which are made by sunbeam i believe. I have three of them in my apartment in Arizona (1 in the master bedroom, 1 in the living room and one in the second bedroom) and i've never had a problem. Filling them up sucks (because its every 20 hours or so) but they do last just about a full day. I just make sure they are full before I go to sleep.

I should also add im allergic to just about everything on this earth. And they help me tremendously.

Do Humidifiers really help? I have bad allergy (dust mites), but live in the south where we have a relatively high humidity and have alway figured "whats the point?"

blaze, i used to live in south florida and never used one until i lived in IL and now in arizona. Im not sure where in the south you live but i know in south florida when its practically 100 percent humidity i don't see how they could help. But on the dryer winter days they would.

On a side note the cool mist and hot steam are the same thing. The only advantage is when the temperature is below freezing the hot steam will be hot enough to make a difference

Looks like we are on the same page Syrch, I live in Mobile, AL, so its just like the FL weather. I received one as a x-mas gift for the house, but am thinking of exchanging it for something more useful. I swear though, I go thru so much tylenol severe sinus that I'm probably addicted to the stuff.

Use it only when we run the heater and the humidity goes down to 20%, or when the baby gets a cold.

I live in the south as well (AR) but in the winter months the inside air is just to freaking dry. I cant stand going to bed and waking up with a "raspy" throat and a dried up nose full of "junk." I also have 2 young children and they could really benefit from a humidifier. I tried 2 different types of humidifiers last year. One did not last that long. The other one just did not do anything. Thats why I'm here looking for personal suggestions.

Thanks again for all of your input.

AIR-O-SWISS 7135 is what I use and its silent. You have to fill it up once every day if you are running it full blast. It is the only humidifier I have used so I don?t have much to compare it with but I am happy with it. Only downside is it?s a bit pricey and the humidity gage on it isn?t very accurate but other than that it works great.

Thanks for the reply rpanic. I found that humidifier at Amazon ($168). I'm reading the reviews right now. I'm also checking out a few different models (and reviews) while I'm there.

Thanks

should've linked to the thread then ;)

I say they help me, I have pretty dry skin. I just bought the cheap kids one at target. Yeah its shaped like an animal, probably wouldn't impress any women, but it doesn't require a filter which can get costly if you run it all day and end up having to change it ever couple weeks.
