What do you expect, we're just another animal. The bugs will take over after we have eliminated our civilization. And as the old poem goes, not with a bang, but a whimper.
 
this isn't surprising. in more recent times a number of native creatures were extinguished
due to human predation, including the moa, dodo, and aardwolf. these studies may revise the
timespan needed for human colonizers to wipe out indigenous mammals, big and small. moas
and the dodo were killed off in a couple hundred years.
