Ahh, you did read this right? :

Status: False.

However, when I interned at a paper in mansfield, OH, a lady brought in a can of asparagus from a budget supermarket with a dead baby bird in it! :Q Long story, but when she told them, they gave her a handful of .50c coupons for the next time, and she apparently was happy with that.

Yeah, I did read that, but for mold, the picture sure looks a lot like a wang.

Do you remember a couple years back when pepsi got busted for having canned a rat in a diet pepsi can? Some dude chugged half of it before realizing it. It was on the news, had to have been at least 6 years ago if memory serves.

How can you not notice anything wrong with the taste of fruitpunch in which a penis sized mold grew in it ?

I work for a well known national soft drink company in thier production area and quality control. Anyone who belives any of these stories such as the one above is VERY gulable. Anyone remember the syringe in the Diet Pepsi fiasco a few years back? That was totaly without merit. Infact I belive the person that made the claim *may* have faced criminal charges. It is HIGHLY improbable that you will ever find a foreign oblect in a can or bottle of beer or soft drink.

1) if an object is in a can or bottle it will most likely fall out in the pre-rinsing stage before it is filled.

2) after filling they are run through a x-ray type of machine that check fill height and weight and this is calibrated to a certain ounce level. IF an object was in there it would displace too much liqiud and therefore be kicked off the line and rejected.

3) there are only 2 places in the line where an object could possibly get into a can or bottle and the people that run those areas would be foolish to try anything of the sort because each bottle and can is coded with and end date AND a date of production sooo all we need to do is look to see who was running what at the time and there would be some severe consequences for those individuals.

4) all this equipment runs at a high rate of speed (1200-1300 cans per minute/400-500 bottles per minute) so although it is possible it is unlikely you will find an object in your drink.

As for the mold in the above story fruit drinks as well as soda and beer have some sort of surgar in them and if exposed to air for a length of time mold will develope. If the seal was broken and a bottle sat in the back of a shelf for long enough you will get mold. Long winded I know but hopefully enlightning.
