If you have Hulu Plus, and ESPECIALLY if you have a Roku 3, I would appreciate your input.
We decided to try out Hulu Plus for a year, then decide if we want to keep it. I bought a Roku 3 to use with our HDTV. Overall, we have been pretty happy with it, except for the fact that some shows delete their first few episodes of the season midway through the season.
Anyway, Hulu did some sort of update a couple of months back. When ads used to play, there was a moving circular arrow in the upper left corner of the screen, showing how far you were through the ads. The update did away with that, and now you only have something showing "ad 1 of 3", or something like that, which is less useful in knowing when they will end.
More importantly, about the same time, it seems like Hulu Plus no longer puts a "watched" bar under the episodes we have watched. We used to be able to watch a few episodes, then come back to it months later, and it would be easy to tell which episode we had watched last, due to the progress/watched bar under the episodes.
That appears to now be gone as well - we have to struggle to remember which episodes we have watched, and tend to waste time picking the wrong one, realizing we've already seen it, etc. As an extra annoyance, Hulu Plus makes you watch commercials again, even if you start another episode in just 60 seconds after realizing you started watching one you'd already seen. It doesn't seem to care that you just watched the ads already.
I know it's not just us - a friend of mine also has Hulu Plus and a Roku 2, and he says the "watched episode" bar that used to show up under episodes he had watched disappeared a couple of months back for him as well.
Why in the world would Hulu Plus do away with something so useful for so many folks?
