i just got my alpha pep66 for the celeron fc-pga. its overclocked to 850 and with stock cooling, the highest temp was 25deg, NOW, with the alpha is get 32deg!?! Whats going on???? The only thing i can really think of is that i maybe applied too much thermal compound....where as with stock cooling, i put a tiny layer of it...

Thanks 🙂

hmm....too much grease, time to rip out the cpu...again. Its reeeally annoying pulling out the cpu...anyway, ill do it, and ill post the results....

Later 😀

The BH6 gives a motherboard temp reading, it doesnt read the cpu's temp, if the alpha is doing its job and pulling more heat from the cpu, then that heat could raise the temp around the cpu, which would give you a higher motherboard temp.

I'm using a Alpha UPEP66 from 2cooltech, and it keeps my C2566 (850mhz@1.5v) a mere 2 degrees above system temp. I agree with the others on the Thermal goop. What works best for me is that I dab a very thin layer (just enough so that nothing is peeking out) on both the cpu and heatsink surfaces.
