Huh? Q6600 running at 1.6GHz?

We don't have Fry's in the Boston area. This one does have the 8-pin connector built right into it, what I meant by an extension is that I need the cable to be a little longer because of Antec's cases having the PSU mounted at the bottom.

Honestly, this is such a minor thing that I'm just extremely happy that it was just a PSU issue and nothing requiring RMAs.

For some reason, people tell me to stay away from Antec PSUs.. any idea why? My previous PSU was an Antec, and it was pretty good for my old system.

I have used Antec since 2005, and still have the True Power 480W purchased in January of that year. And my 650 TP Trio has been working flawlessly since November 2006.

I've asked the same question in the "Power Supplies" forums, and was told that Antec PSU's back in the early 2000's had a bad reputation for failing, and not much was done by Antec for the dissatisfied customers.

But I think it is a thing of a past. The new True Power series are apparently built by Seasonic, and Antec prices today are much better than the competition.

Just avoid Antec Smartpower II series PSUs.

Those things have about 7-8x the fail rate of all of the other antec lines.

Other than SpeedStep make sure you disable C1E Support in the BIOS. I had the same problem with my Asus P5K. System was dithering between 6X Multiplier and 9X (1.6 vs 2.4 Ghz) the primary reason was the C1E, once I disabled that problem was fixed.

Had the same exact issue with P5K-E. Disabling C1E and Speedstep did the trick.

I love how people are still suggesting EIST and C1E even though it was found to be the PSU, not the motherboard or any settings Jenny set.

Oh, and yeah, the Boston area sucks for computer shops. I could've told you that one.
