(Actually, I've learned to cope with dial-up... I just don't click on anything that has to do with youtube)

Anyone have comments on one vs. the other?

While it will be somewhat better than dial-up, don't expect speeds similar to DSL or cable.

Anyone else?

edit: I understand that the debate is "which one sucks less?"
I really wish there was an alternative. I keep putting it off, crossing my fingers.

I've heard better things about Wildblue than Hughesnet, but also that Hughesnet is improving. Have you checked to see if Wildblue is accepting new customers in your area? They are not accepting new customers in my area.

I don't like it because customer support is non existent and I have very frequent drop outs. I have to re-set the modem all the time or release and re-new my IP.

I haven't checked if they are accepting customers in my area as I already have it so I assume that they are.

Erhm, I meant to direct the "new customers" comment to Dr Pizza. I know a few neighbors around here have Wildblue, but they are not accepting new customers in this area.
