I just built a new pc. Everything runs good except for when I try to run games. I believe it is the video card but I cant come to a conclusion.

Specs:

P4 3.0 ghz
Asus p4p800 deluxe mobo
1gb kingston hyper-x pc3200
120gb seagate baracuda hd
SAPPHIRE OEM RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB
ASPIRE ATX-AS500W Power Supply

2d mode
CPU - 39c
MOBO - 37c

3d
CPU - 50-60
MOBO - 40

Power (seems very stable)
12v - 12.03
5v - 5.05
3.3 - 3.29
Vcore - 1.6

Also the gfx card is super hot...
I havent been able to get a reading on the card yet, but I doubt its due to overheating. Enter the matrix runs for a minute and then closes. Max payne only works with "particle deformation" off. I got the latest drivers and evrything. Iduno wuts up. plz help.

I woiuld be a bit worriedn about that CPU temp. If it was an AMD then ok, but thats a little high for a Pentium.

Check all cards are seated correctly. all cables connected properly. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for the Video card.

Is the card overclocked?

Did you install ALL the drivers for your motherboard, AND get all of the updates from the manufacturer?

Also, one some boards, probably most, you will have to into the BIOS and set the board according to the RAM you bought, i.e., what speed to run at.

I just built a new Rig too, and when I first loaded the OS, I went to Control Panel, and System, and say my PC specs, Gig of Ram, and then I saw 1 GHZ processor... I was like, huh? So I went to the BIOS set the board to perform at its maximum safe capacity and I was set... Back up to where it should be!

evrything is connected, all of the drivers are new, nothing is overclocked. It detects my cpu, and ram just fine. also just got the latest bios . however, i dont think its the gfx card anymore. i just swapped it with my old card, which never had problems.. system hangs 2 minutes into game again.... ???? im thinking windows?

Try running memtest 86 to rule out memory problems. Also, 50 -60 is high for the cpu. Do you have enough cooling fans? Is the heatsink on the cpu installed properly? If you take the cover off, do you still have problems?

i have a thermaltake v1000d case w/7 fans all of them on now. before my lid was off, doesnt make a difference, still crashes. iduno i cant really install the heatsink wrong, its stock and pretty fool-proof... should i use thermal paste or something? right now its 41c idle. jumps to ~70c and then locks up when i run enter the matrix...
