Huge problems with vista...

I have two computers running Vista 64bit, one computer has a printer connected through usb. I added the printer to the other computer as a network printer and all was well. Now when I tried to print something from Acrobat Reader it said I have to add a printer and when I went the printers I have installed...there was none...I clicked "add a printer" and it gave me this error message: "Windows can't open Add Printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine."

I went to services.msc and the print spooler is running but it still gives me this message....how do I fix this problem ?

I think its more than just the printer...when I try to go to Control Panel>Admistrative Tools>Even Viewer it says that service isnt running either...

Even worse when I try to search for files using the search option it says "Search failed to initialize"...


I just checked for viruses/spyware and there are none...I cant figure out whats wrong...

Do you have the correct 64bit drivers installed for your printer, that will work with Vista?

Yeah this printer was working, but I think certain services are just not working properly.

go to a commandline run "net stop spooler" then "net start spooler"


give that a shot and report back. Also run msconfig and check to make sure that selective start up is checked and load system services is checked. Click on Services tab and make sure the required services are enabled

Funny, I brought home a new HP laserjet tonight (good deal with a rebate) and encountered this problem when I was adding it to my laptop after sharing it from my desktop. I just gave it a couple minutes and tried again and all worked fine.
