This is incredible, it took 30yrs to uncover abuse. Where are the decent men and women in law enforcement who know of abuse and said nothing. How can the citizen feel safe.
I am shocked.

"And the lawyers said the four men were seen as acceptable collateral damage at a time when the FBI was trying to take the Mafia down through the use of criminal informants.

During the lengthy civil trial, the government had argued that the federal authorities could not be held responsible for the results of a state prosecution.

But US district judge Nancy Gertner, who ruled on the case, said it took 30 years to uncover the injustice, and that the government's position was, in a word, "absurd".

This is J. Edger Hoover's FBI here. One of the bigger crooks in government. Any deep history of the FBI of this era reveals all sorts of horrible behavior covered up by fervent PR work.

The FBI may have its problems, but it is much better run today than it was when it was under the satrapy of Hoover.

I suppose the FBI isnt the only organization with this sort of issue. Where there is power, there is bound to be corruption. Some people just look the other way just to keep their job.
