Huge overheating problem at idle?!

Phenom 9850 BE at stock speeds, stock cooler, stock everything. That's running at idle. Also I have to have the case half open or it will freeze a lot. XP 64-bit.

This means something is wrong with my cooling, right? The CPU stock fan is spinning. I've never (in my life) taken any CPU cooler apart: do I just get a screwdriver and lift the cooler off, then put it back on? Blow compressed air too?

Thanks

PS Is there anything else overheating from the above pic, or is it just the CPU?

I can't see the pic, but make sure you have a good coat of thermal paste on it and it's seated correctly to the CPU.

Your whole case is overheating, double check airflow. And replace the thermal paste immediately.

So you built this yourself? There must be something wrong with your cpu cooler. Even with the stock cooler with no aftermarket thermal paste, you shouldn't get these temps. Are your sure it is mounted correctly?
