Nissan is still overall more reliable and is less prone to recalls (e.g. Ford Focus) than it's domestic competitors.
Yes, that is quite true.

Most car manufactuers can have a recall and Nissan has had less than most of its competition.

Anyway I never have said that Nissan is as reliable as honda/toyota. Their quality has been slipping over the past several years and I think that's fairly well known.

My one sister-in-law used to drive a Nissan Altima.

She likes her Ford Focus much better.
What can I say? Women have no discerning taste for vehicles. Take the average couple: who's pushing for the accord and who wants to buy the mustang GT?

hmmm. what were all the nissan fanbois saying about ford?
Not that I'm a Nissan fanboy, but some of Ford's recalls have been due to defects a lot more dangerous than this one.
Every car company has recalls, Ford just happens to be the most proactive about getting their vehicles fixed.

Does anybody remember the Chevy/GMC side fuel tanks that NEVER got fixed?

you mean the side saddle fuel tanks? wasn't that completely blown out of proportion? i bet their trucks aren't side saddle anymore, so what do you mean never got fixed?

What I mean is NHTSA ordered GM to recall these vehicles and relocate the side mounted fuel tanks or face a fine.

GM paid the fine. :|

I lost a friend due to their poor design choice, before this was a national issue. GM cut the family a check before they even went to court.

Yeah. That was scary! If you're in one of those trucks, and get T-Boned, and happen to have fireworks stored by the filler pipe, and they happen to ignite at the moment of impact, it would catch fire! Wow!

Yeah, that's why NHTSA initially determined that these 1973-1987 GM-Chevy C/K pickups had a fuel tank safety defect. And that is why there was an unwarranted financial settlement with GM that thereby avoided recalling and fixing the hazard.

you mean like Toyata Sienna's exploding gas tank?
LOL, you're blowing that recall way out of proportion. Toyota makes quality products, your bias against imports helps no one.

Edit: There have been no fires or injuries related to the faulty gas tank. How often do you see Ford recalling products before people are actually hurt? Don't forget to factor in the fact that Ford has been forced to recall waaaay more products than Toyota in the past. Kthxbye
