Huge monitor or lcd tv help please

Hi guys,

I'm currently using a dell 24 inch widescreen native res of 1900x1600 it looks great, but I was wondering how a 27 lcd tv would work for primarily daytime use is reading text and gaming at night, the lcd tv's I'm looking at only have native resolution of 1366, how will these playout.

ps I would actually like 27-32 inch monitor for viewing multiple pages simultaniously =)
 
The dell is 1920x1200 I think.

How far away do you sit?

If this is for regular computer usage, then I'd rather have the resolution than a bigger screen. If you are farther away and want a larger viewing angle at the expense of not being able to fit as much on your screen, you might want to consider an LCD TV then.

If you're looking for multiple pages simultaniously, you're looking for higher res, not larger screen area.
 
LCD Tv's dont come in 1920x1080 until you get to 37 inches (westinghouse or Sceptre are good deals). If you want a bigger screen with a high res, get a 30 inch Dell or Apple WS Monitor. Otherwise your stuck with 1366x768 or 1280x768, either way you lose alot of screen space getting a TV.

If you want to see TONS of things at once, the Dell/Apple 30 inchers are 2560x1600. If you multiply it our thats 4 megapixels. 1920x1200 is around 2 megapixels. So the 30 Inch Widescreens have double the amount of pixels for showing pages

If I were you I would just go dual monitors though. Overall its the best for viewing lots of stuff.
 
Indeed, I don't think I could go back to a single monitor anymore... well maybe if it was 2560x1600 I could manage 😛

I think two 24" screen next to each other would result in me having to move my neck around at my viewing distance.
 
1920x1080 is fine for text on a 37", but I wouldn't do less than 1080p at this junction in tech with HD-DVD and/or Blu-Ray on the horizon. HDCP compliance is a given pretty much at this time. I was planning on keeping my 19" for routine net and documents, but I ended up giving it to my mom.
