No Lifer
Shux - Just misses by 4 lengths to the moon.

Could've put an end to all this Partisan crap.

9-28-2004 Huge Asteroid to Fly Past Earth Wednesday

The space rock, named Toutatis, will not hit Earth, despite rumors of possible doom that have circulated the Internet for months.

Humanity is very fortunate there won't be an impact, as the asteroid is large enough to cause global devastation.

On Wednesday, Sept. 29 it will be within a million miles of Earth, or about four times the distance to the Moon.

No space rock this big will pass so close in the next century, scientists say. And while similarly large asteroids have hit the planet in the distant past, none so big have come so close since astronomers have had the means to notice them. Many smaller space rocks have been spotted much closer, even inside the orbit of the Moon.

The real danger of course, is if al Qaeda gets their hands on a <air quote> tractor beam </air quote> that can pull one of those asteroids down on top of North America. Yikes.

With everything going on lately with the weather, the earth, and now near space objects, I'm surprised so few are running around screaming the sky is falling. Every disaster/near disaster usually brings the gloom&doom end of the world crowd out in droves. Must still be waiting on line at Kinkos to get their signs finished 😛

But it would make the terrain in Kansas a HELL of a lot more interesting. 😉 (provided that's where it lands of course)
