Intel's latest rounds of price cuts have AMD seeing red - they announced immediate huge disty instant rebates today.

Rebate amounts: (essentially these are the amounts the prices will drop, *USUALLY* after the rebate period they will drop the price to the after rebate price)

Athlon64 AM2 ADA3800CNBOX - $145.00
Athlon64 S939 ADA3800BPBOX - $145.00
Athlon64 S939 ADA3500BPBOX - $76.00
Athlon64 AM2 ADA3500CNBOX - $76.00
Athlon64 S939 ADA3500CGBOX - $76.00
Athlon64 S939 ADA3200BPBOX - $36.00
Athlon64 AM2 ADA3200CNBOX - $36.00

(Above rebates good until 07/23/06)

*ADDED*
Athlon64 S939 ADA3700BNBOX - $30.00
Athlon64 S939 ADA4000BNBOX - $52.00

(Above rebates good until 06/25/06)

I *hear* there will be a rebate/price drop on the X2's on 07/24/06

It's gonna get interesting!

:)

Now we just need Intel to counter with another price cut. When there is a pricing war the consumer wins!

I'm wondering if it will flip back the way it was, AMD on the cheap, and INtel ruling the roost. :)

It depends if the retailer is price protected. If they aren't, they will have to deplete their current inventory, or they might cost average it. If they are price protected (few) they will show up VERY soon.

okay so the athlon 64 3200 - 3800 series single core will be rebated.... great for people who want a cheap processor, but most people on here already have one of these chips or have a better one

so we will see it like this:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 - $286 = $141

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 - $284 = $139

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 - $185 = $109

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 - $189 = $113

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 - $186 = $110

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 - $135 = $99

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 - $135 = $99

Doubtful.

Look outside your world - there's millions of people that have no need for even that fast of a processor.

Not everyone's longing for max FPS in F.E.A.R.

90% of the processors we sell are Semprons or Athlon64 3500+ or lower. We can't keep Sempron 2800+ and AMD Athlon64 3000+'s in stock.

Which is disappointing, since that means AMD still doesn't really have an answer to how low the 920,930, etc. are priced.

This is not the first round of drastic cuts - Expect the X2's to be sliced pretty soon. (IMO)

Many of my AMD only resellers are gravitating towards Intel for dual core because of the pricing differences. Now, If Intel could actually have SLI implementation as good as AMD's, Intel would be set.

since they are happening for distries only i dont see much benefit for me, i buy from internet shops, or do distributers sell to them too?
