If anyone saw Gov. Huckabee on SNL last night, it was actually pretty funny. Then this morning I read an AP article about the appearance, and it comes across as if his "overstaying his welcome" was not the crux of the entire joke for his appearance. Anyone else read this article the same way?

Anyway, I have to give credit for the governor in not only appearing but in actually being funny! I thought it would have been even better if he had announced he was leaving the nomination race on SNL. Now, THAT would have been a news story today.

I can kind of see your point Andrew. The headline kind of made it seem he didn't leave when he should of but the article seemed to allude that it was a joke, at least that's the way I read it.

SNL has never been outragiously funny and I've been watching since it came on air in the 70's

It has its moments and thats all you can expect, for those fondly remembering the good ole day,s they are forgetting the mountains of crap you had to get through for a laugh.

I think its a win win for Huckabee to stay in the race until McCain wraps it up. It helps Huckabee's name recogition, keeps the religious right excited, and keeps McCain's name in the news and pre convention debates. Meanwhile the pressure is off Huckabee because he can't win, so he can lighten up and crack jokes.

And if McCain goes down in flames in the general election of 08, Huckabee can wangle some position and be perhaps the the incoming favorite to win the GOP nomination in 2012.

Huck is a gas and I like him. I don't even worry about him being nuts. I think he's also a good Christian with good Christian sense.

Yeah, it really sounds like whoever wrote the AP story didn't get the joke, but its possible they are just a crappy writer, either way not good on their part.

Huckabee is a pretty affable guy. Too bad he goes around talking about miracles and telling people he doesn't believe in evolution.

totally ass-backwards.

I'm not too fond of his policies, but he is hands-down the best political speaker anywhere that I have heard in a LONG time. None of the other candidates is all that wonderful -- Obama always sounds too forced to me, like he's attempting to channel MLK.

I like Huckabee a lot as a person... I just don't get what he's trying to get out of staying in the race even at a point when it's impossible for him to win.

Bringing it back from the dead... ;)

I was thinking about why he's staying in, and I wondered if it was to keep the Republican race in the news. If it's just McCain, it's hardly a story. However, if Huck continues to run (he should be done now though), then the press has something to wonder about, which keeps the Republicans on the front page instead of buried way behind Obama/Clinton.

I wouldn't be exceptionally surprised if the RNC wanted Huck to stay in the race to keep the social conservatives energized.
