I hooked up a Asante 10T HUB/8 to my DSL modem so that I could have my desktop PC constantly connected and hook up my laptop without having to disconnect the desktop. Anyway, so far I can get on the web with my laptop and access files on the desktop PC. However, I can't get the desktop PC on the web nor is it able to access anything on the laptop.

The laptop is a Win2k machine and the desktop is Win98.

Any ideas?

to access your laptop from desktop you have to have same account : laptop\username and desktop\username are different things. they have to be members of the same Workgroup, have different IPs and the same gateway to access the net.
Try to ping from desktop to laptop, than to DSL router, than any IP on the internet. If ping does not work you know where the trouble is. If it does work and you can ping external IP try to ping by name, like "ping www.yahoo.com". If you can't, fix your DNS ( the most common), enter it manually.
