Hub or Switch?

swich is better, but in the long run the DSL connection will be your bottleneck.

So if you need wicked fast transfers between 3 or more computers, get a switch.

If you only have 2, or it doesnt matter that much, a hub.

On the other hand... a decent 5 port switch is only $50

get a router
most are about 100 bucks (you can share usually 4 connections with one, with a maximum of 254(?))
also, as azkiwi said, they have a built in firewall which is very good

edit - im networking my two computers (on a cable connection) with a linksys befsr41 router
 
3com 4 port router at Tiger Direct.com is $50

has hardware firewall, AND print server. call them. the checkout sometimes sux at their site.
