HTTPS file upload/download server

Want to setup an HTTPS server on Linux where files can be uploaded and downloaded via login.

What do you guys use/recommend?

apache and php always works.

I have an Apache server. Though I don't use HTTPS on it, you would need to buy an SSL certificate. As for the downloader, I run php 5 + mysql. Then run this: http://www.phparena.net/scripts.php?script=pafiledb

You don't need to buy an SSL certificate unless you are running a public site with public clients, otherwise just adding an exception for your self-signed cert will get you the same security.
