Wow nice site. Lots of garbage listed right now.

That Miami transit line at 2.1 billion for 10 miles. Sounds cost efficient at 210 million per mile while creating, get this, 400 jobs lmao.

Oh shit didnt look further down the page. Another segment of the line costing 1.4 billion for another 10 miles. I guess that is am improvement right? So who did miami suckoff to get so much money for 20 miles of rail?

Whole goddamn bill is pork as far as I can tell. And ROI sucks. Might as well just give people cash.

What projects are these? I found these relating to transport around that area.

$300 million transit extension
$280 million streetcar

I don't know the exact distance involved, but if they cost this much the rails be better made of gold if the line is only 10miles long.

Woot! Dog parks and doorbells.

And another $350K for a bike path.

And get this, "Construct 25 houses for first time buyers including land acqusition." WTF are there not enough empty houses already?

Yeah, people, this isn't a list of stuff in the stimulus bill. This is a list of projects being proposed at the LOCAL level (meaning, communities trying to grab at the money so throwing everything including the kitchen sink out there). Most of the crap on there is from that U.S. Conference of Mayors report that has already been completely rejected.

Right. I just wanted to point out that the stuff we may discuss/bitch about isn't technically IN the stimulus. These items MAY be funded locally by stimulus money.

It's a minor quibble, but it can mean quite a bit in the proper circumstance.

Not intended as an 'attack' against you at all.

Actually, no, a large portion of them are for things specifically banned from getting any money as part of the stimulus bill..

Zoos for example.

From their FAQ "The project titles displayed on this site are taken directly from the U.S. Conference of Mayors' MainStreet Economic Recovery Report from which we get our data. Some of the titles are very descriptive, while others are only one or two words long. Unfortunately, we can only display the information we have."

That report was completely rejected and language added to the stimulus bill to ensure most of the crap in that report couldn't get funded.

This site is completely pointless. Its asking people to judge the stimulus package based on projects that have 0 chance of getting funded..

Exactly... IMO Op should edit his First Post to reflect this. He can tell all the wingnuts to ignore this fact so they can continue their circle jerk.

I think my favorite park about this is that they some how think this all magically started the second Obama took office. Like this hasn't been the way American Politics has gone since like 1776. This has and always will be a part, but unfortunately it is currently at an all time high.

Let's hope that somehow in the next four years even with all the huge problems and partisan brickwalling it will be somewhat controlled.

Most reasonable people recognize what the status quo is as far as American politics...Obama ran on a campaign promise of Change...perhaps he was naive to think he could change Washington politics...perhaps the American people were naive to believe him.
