http://pics.paulsonator.com v2.0

Enormous thanks to dwell who helped me out with everything, and also thanks to e-dawg for his help with recompiling php!

hopefully this version of the site is a lot less apt to piss people off :)

You have to login, in order for your pics to register in the database, however you can still view them... it's just advised that you log in!

I'm sure all three of you host more pics and use up more bandwidth than mine - I'm just offering mine so I have an excuse to learn better PHP. I'm working on top 10 pics, top 10 albums, and last 20 pics uploaded addons right now. Fun. :D

Design changes are coming soon to mine; actual code differences are still a few months off (when Gallery 2.0 comes out).

I don't know how much 50/60 or even 100 gigs of data a month would be but I imagine not cheap.

How much are you looking to spend, there are some unlimited BW deals on colo's for $99 a month. You can also get webhosts with unlimited transfer, but I have no idea how much hd space your pics are using right now.

I have a 120 gig hard drive in my server right now, and I'm not really willing to lose that...

I'd probably have to build a nice rackmount server... I don't know how I'd pay for it all providing that this would be a non pay site :(

Considering this software was created by people who actually have lives, the software does an awesome job and is fairly sophisticated. Until you can create v12, I suggest you shut up.

Unless it's much faster, the software is irrelevent. Nothing personal, and I know you're providing a free service, but downloading off of your server is really painful. I can never get above 3 or 4KB a second when trying to download from it.

Yes, I'm trying to find ways of generating revenue in order for me to host more pics with a decent amount of bandwidth. At the moment I haven't come up with any decent solution.

24,700 some odd pics, that's a lot. The service is heavily abused...

I know it is. Have you thought about maybe limiting the users or amount of pics more? It just seems like your service is in over it's head with the connection you have and then it no longer becomes a valuable service. Free or otherwise.

If people used all the servers, rather than just those two, it'd probably work out better. I know I'm only pushing about 4-5gb in bandwidth/mo. from my site, so I could definitely help share the load. I think it just takes time though...
