What the hell does this mean? It pops into my URL bar immediately after I click a thread or something.

Not sure but it's likely due to the Google ads since the URLs for them start with:

http://pagead.googlesyndication.com/search?output=cahtml&num=0&client=ca-anandtech_sky&ca_format=120x600&ca_random=1051328597747&hl=en&q=

You should probably start a thread in Forum Issues about it and include your browser type, OS, etc.
