I'd want it to be passively cooled.

Will have a AM2 4000+ or above (probably a 5200+)
Will have 2GB PC6400
I need 1080p
No gaming
No vid capture
Quiet

Is the HD2600XT noisy? I know it has a fan attached, but I've read a lot of positive things about it.

Passively cooled models are available. 'Nutha option is replacing the cooler yourself but then the warranty is voided and it prolly ends up costing more anyway. XT is o'erkill if 3D performance is not a factor (actually, it's a bit lackluster in that regard anyway). So, the 2600 Pro is a better choice since it is less expensive and will generate less heat. I have one in AGP flavour with the reference cooler and it was noisy so I reduced the fan speed. A passive cooler would be ideal but the hassle isn't worth it to me since it is quiet enough.

No gaming? How about this 2600pro for $55AR. Fanless, includes the Witcher (for another machine, I guess) and HDMI adapter dongle.

I will be using it with an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe. Should I look at an Nvidia card instead of a Radeon?
