htpc video card question

i have a basic htpc running a radeon 9600

i have been looking at getting a new HDTV, and im wondering if that video card will be powerfull enough for some of the higher resolutions?

i WONT be gaming, or doing any high end 3d stuff

i will just be watching video content (ie. dvd's and downloaded .avi's, and recorded television programing)


anyone have ideas if the 9600 will be powerfull enough?

Should be ok if you have a decently powerfull CPU. Video cards dont matter as much as the CPU does in playing video. GPU hardware assist playback of video is still a pretty new thing, and drivers are still pretty buggy.

If you are watching standard definition content mostly, then the 9600 should probably be just fine.
