isn't a deal until they hit $20 after rebate with big heatsink (fanless) and a free game like the 3450 a few months ago (bundled with WoW though I wonder if anyone seriously played it on their 3450)
 
how much faster is this compared to the $20 8600 GTS i got from newegg?? i'd like to go fanless but only if its a lateral or better move.

I don't have charts to back me up, but I'm almost certain an 8600 GTS would be faster than a 4350. Question is, where did you get a $20 8600 GTS?
 
dude newegg. back in december when i got this delloutlet boxen. 8600 gts with ddr3 iirc. no coupon or rebate. they always run cheap vid card deals.

fry's does too but usually its an eVGA rebate with them.

my only beef is the fan; it is a point of failure in a cramped space. i've had so many fan failures in my life i'd rather have a good airflow design and use passive cooling like oem's.

It would be. The 80SPs roughly equate to 12-16 pixel pipelines and are much better in newer games. You won't run new games on high but they all would be playable on medium. Older games should be a breeze on this.

Lookup a comparison of the 9500GT to the 4350. The 8600GTS is basically the 9500GT on a larger process, but the SP, etc. are pretty much the same.
