So I'm a noobie at HTPC's. I have done many searches but can't find a good answer.

Plan:
I want to build an HTPC that is able to stream movies/videos/music from a server and watch TV. Eventually I would like a central server that is able to stream movies to multiple HTPC's in the house.

Is this possible? Any links, advice?

Thanks

For The server, look at my sig, but think a little more ram and a few more hard drives. The server will likely cost ~$300 sans HDDs

Alternatively, depending on what quality video you want to stream, some jailbroken AppleTVs or Roku Boxes will get the job done, for $100/ea and should handle 720p.

How you gonna watch TV?

I watch TV from my Satelite provider but I stream video from the Internet to the TV. Basically I have a converter that goes from DVI-D to HDMI that I connect to a standard HDMI cable, then also from Mini-Stereo out to RCA(R/L). It would be easier if you have HDMI out on your motherboard. Because then you can use only one cable for video and sound. I also use a Y male to 2 female mini-stereo splitter so I can export the sound to the computer speakers and the TV Both. It helps if the motherboard has full HD and not 720p. Motherboard also needs to be able to do dual monitor display.

I had the other items already but I got them from Radio Shack years ago. I am using the computer in my sig.
