HTPC Question

OK guys, I've been reading up on HTPCs lately in order to convert a legacy Dell Dimension 4100 into a Media Center PC. I have a general idea of the basics, but I'm not sure how one would go about using the PC as a PVR for satellite TV.

First of all:
My satellite box is connected to the dish via coaxical cables, and it is currently connected to my 51" Hitachi HDTV via S-Video outputs, which is the best option available on this receiver (a Dish 500). How would I connect this S-Video output to my computer so that I could record TV onto the hard drive? What hardware/software would I need besides Windows MCE? Would it be possible to record 1 show while watching another?

Thanks for any advice and tips, anything about HTPCs in general would be helpful.

You need a tv-tuner card. that will take svideo and audio signals from the dish receiver. then you connect your htpc to your tv using svideo 🙂

Add one of these, stir, salt to taste, and enjoy 🙂

You simply plug the s-video/rca audio from your cable box into the tuner card, then connect your HTPC to your TV using the the best available (If you have DVI/HDMI on the TV, use a DVI cable on the computer). For dual-tuners, you need this bundle. And two DISH boxes.
