Greetings,

I have a 50" Panasonic G25, and am looking to build an HTPC after our old one died. So far, I have a new 430w Corsair PSU, 4GB of 1333 DDR3, a Lenovo mouse/keyboard wireless doohickey, a hard drive, a DVD Drive, a Radeon 4350 for its HDMI output, and a copy of Windows 7. I also It won't need to play Blu-Rays for some time (I can always upgrade, I suppose), and we'll stick with the DVD drive for now. I'd like it to be able to play/stream 1080p content, play a few low-graphics games (You Don't Know Jack, et cetera), and hold a bunch of content. I know this seems a bit odd, but I'd really like a motherboard with ESATA support. Because of its location, the case can be mid-tower (which might be nice, in case we want to use it for other things in the future).

I'm looking at the following:

MOBO: ASROCK H67M

CPU: Sandy Bridge i3-2100

CASE: APEX TX-381-C

Look good? Any recommended changes? Anything I'm forgetting? Your feedback is much appreciated!

Why mini-ITX board with microATX case? You sacrifice things (e.g. expansion slots) by sticking with ITX when it's not needed for that case.

I also don't know the answer to this - does a microATX case have the proper mounting holes for a mini-ITX board?

Binky,

A good question; in retrospect, I thought I was picking a larger case than was necessary for the board. That's obviously not correct-- I was thinking of a larger board for the case. I don't know if it has the proper mounting holes or not... I'll see what I can find out.
