Looking for a matx mobo recommendation that has hdmi out so I can hook it up directly to my 1080 set. Been out of the loop hardware wise on motherboards lately.

Needs:

HDMI
Good Onboard Audio.
Good onboard video would be great if possible. I don't game. This is strictly for multmedia stuff.

AMD 690G chipset with HDMI

Just choose a board from that list. The AMD 690G chipset is probably your best choice for onboard video, capable of light gaming and even 1080P decoding. I'm not sure there is another onboard video that's capable of 1080P.

As for which exact board to choose... Gary Key has promised that Anandtech will publish their article on August 25th or 26th. Of course the article is already a half year late, but the chipsets, BIOSes and drivers have matured since then so you should be able to get a good idea of which board would suit your needs.

From specs alone, this Gigabyte may be a good choice for HTPC usage. It has HDMI, optical SPDIF out, VGA, DVI, svideo out, component out, 8 channel HD audio, Firewire. Basically everything you'd want (except overclocking). Couple this with a low voltage version of the A64 x2 5200 for a great performer that won't run too hot.
