Hey guys, my HTPC keeps freezing on me. I am trying to diagnose and fix the issue. I recently upgraded from a C2D system to a Phenom II x4 system. It was working great for the first few days. Installed a Blu-Ray drive a couple days ago. That was working great too. As of yesterday I have been having freezing issues. Just a couple freezes while watching TV. Then today, it froze a couple times during a movie, and now it freezes on the desktop frequently. Sometimes I gain control back, and other times I can move the mouse, but not input is taken. I am thinking it is the HDD because it is 3-4 years old at this point, and I noticed Windows taking longer and longer to load. I also tried to boot into safe mode and got an I/O error. Any recommendations on how to check the health of my HDD if the HTPC keeps freezing? I don't really see why it would be the mobo, CPU, RAM, or Blu-Ray drive either. But if I was 100% sure, I wouldn't be posting this thread.
Thanks for any tips.
Update: Tried doing windows startup repair and I got an error. The intruction at 0x referenced memory at 0x. The memory could not be read. Perhaps it is a RAM issue? Or just HDD loading garbage into RAM?
